Brief description:
The "MR-Pedalergometer" start-up team develops, produces and markets an examination instrument that, for the first time, can help provide a clear diagnosis of a frequent civilisational disease, peripheral arterial circulatory disturbances of the calf musculature. The technological basis is an innovative ergometer for the calf musculature, which is actuated by the patient during the examination in an MRT. Blood flow in the calf musculature is determined during exercise using 31 Phosphor Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (31P MRS). With the new diagnostics instrument it is possible to avoid operations that lead to no improvement in the symptoms. An objective decision can be taken on the meaningfulness of an operation.

CAST’s tasks:

• Funding of the start-up project
• Support in the generation of the business plan
• Funding of the prototype-development and its certification
• Assistance in the search for collaboration partners
