Ugichem works on innovative antisense agents to treat viral diseases. Unlike rival antisense concepts, ugichem agents have the unique selling point of cellular uptake without needing additional help. The team is initially focusing the development of its agents on the treatment of HIV. However, given that in principle, antisense technology can be put to a wide range of uses, ugichem agents are also set to be used to fight other illnesses.

CAST’s tasks:

• Start-up consultancy, particularly advice on backing
• Support with developing the business plan
• Assistance with business development and funding negotiations
